Who we are
History of TVNW
The Table View Neighbourhood Watch (TVNW) traces its roots back to the early 1990s when concerned residents of Table View, a suburb in Cape Town, South Africa, came together in response to rising crime rates in their community. Frustrated by a lack of sufficient police presence and feeling vulnerable to crime, these residents decided to take matters into their own hands by organising a community-based initiative focused on enhancing safety and security.
Initially, the Table View Neighbourhood Watch started with a small group of volunteers who patrolled the streets, keeping a watchful eye on suspicious activities and reporting any incidents to the authorities. These early efforts laid the foundation for what would eventually become a well-established and highly respected community organisation.
As the need for community safety became increasingly apparent, the Table View Neighbourhood Watch expanded its activities beyond patrols to include crime prevention initiatives, community engagement events, and collaboration with local law enforcement agencies. Through grassroots efforts and a commitment to collective action, the watch gained momentum and attracted more volunteers from the local community.
Over the years, the Table View Neighbourhood Watch has grown into a vital institution within the community, fostering a sense of solidarity and empowerment among residents. Its establishment reflects the proactive spirit of Table View residents who refuse to be passive bystanders in the face of crime, instead choosing to actively work together to create a safer and more secure neighbourhood for all.
